We took Ginger's car into the dealer today to get the issues she has with it checked out. There were quite a number of issues. When it's in automatic and you start from a complete stop the car skips first and starts in second. The anti-lock braking light will eventually come on after driving for a bit. And sometimes the brake lights would stay on even after turning off the car and locking it (getting back in and tapping the brake would get them to turn off). Turns out everything was actually covered under warranty and they fixed it up. Not only that, but all the problems were attributed to one bad switch. Now that's not to say they didn't find over $500 worth of "recommended" work they could do, but the other stuff was covered. I was actually shocked. The bad news is this meant I was car-less today though. And I brought no lunch, so it was a double whammy.
The kids called me midday to tell how they had watched a squirrel try and get to the birdfeeder. And how it couldn't get past the guard, and how it was perched on rail and they thought it was going to try and jump to the feeder. They told me it stayed out there for several minutes trying to get to the feeder before he finally gave up. So it's nice to know that's working.
Ginger and the kids came by work and picked me up around 7 (just as the rain really started coming down) and we went by the dealer and picked up her car. As we were waiting at the dealership the sun finally broke through and I got to show the kids a rainbow. It was really faint and hard to see, but it was there. It took a long time for Catherine to see it (and I'm still not completely convinced she saw it, but she now claims she did). I think it was the first real one they've seen, or in Quinn's case the first one he remembers seeing.
