Happy Mother's Day

First off, a Happy Mother's day to all the Mothers out there. I know our household would come to standstill without Ginger, so a hearty "Hip Hip Hooray" for all the Moms. Having said that, I pretty much failed the whole Mother's Day experiment thing. For some reason, I must have thought Mother's Day was the day that the Mothers would take care of everything. That's the only possible explanation I can come up with on why I let Ginger get up with Quinn when he woke up this morning. Luckily he didn't actually get up until 8. I got up when Catherine got up at 9:30.

The weather didn't look like it was going to be too cooperative today, so we tried to get some beach type activities in early. We hit the pool first. This was around 11. Now this normally wouldn't even have been an option, except for the fact that our house here has a heated pool. But even heated, the temperature is just over 70 (although this didn't bother the kids at all as they were eager to jump in and play). The bad thing about the pool is the shallow end is 3 feet. That's just barely too deep for Catherine. Just after I got up the nerve to actually get in (which took a while) it started to rain. Since it looked like lightning and thunder were going to be involved, we had to head inside. While it was raining we went to the grocery store and picked up stuff for the upcoming week. Once we got back the rain had stopped and the sun had dried up what had already came down, so we headed out to the beach. Now it is still fairly chilly here so we didn't stay out long (the wind on the beach was significantly stronger than the wind at the house which made it feel colder).

Back at the house Quinn and I played some soccer (they have a mini soccer goal setup by the volleyball court) while Catherine dug in the sand on the volleyball court making a pile of dirt (that she explained was suppose to be a cake for Ginger). After that the kids napped and the rain really started coming down. Since then there have been strong intermittent showers throughout the night. Looks like there may be some more brief showers tomorrow, but hopefully after that the weather will improve.

Here's a picture of where we're staying.
