One Last Birthday Party Post
This should be the end of posts about Quinn's birthday until next year. Today Quinn had a birthday party with his friends and classmates at Pump It Up. I think there were about about 20 kids there, so it was kind of hectic.
I'll go ahead and get the whining out of the way. The batteries in my external flash were really weak so the flash wasn't going off on each shot. And sometimes it was taking up to 30 seconds to recharge. Due to that I got very few good pictures. Sadly, on lots of the pictures where the flash didn't go off, if I add tons of fill light it looks like it would have been a great shot. Grrrrr. Eventually after missing so many shots I just took off the external flash and started using the built in flash, but from looking at the pictures with that I've noticed it resulted in a fair amount of red eye. I've seriously got to do something so stuff like this doesn't keep happening. Once we got to the party room and there was adequate lighting, it was less of of an issue.
Robert and his clan were there.
As were Barry and his small army. I don't know who had more fun, Barry or the kids.
Catherine didn't really warm up to the place until the second room. But man, once she got into it she was constantly going. She was completely soaked from sweating so much by the time we headed into the party room.
Since Quinn is six now, they let him do the boxing and the jousting. Both time he went in with Nick. And both times Nick practically beat the snot of out him. Nick's a bit bigger than Quinn and a lot more aggressive (I think he has several older brothers, so that might explain it). Quinn was getting knocked down several times while attempting to stand back up. We also had a pretty bad incident where Quinn was pushed off one of the inflatables and hit his head pretty hard on the floor. Turned out Nick was the culprit in that also.
The party wound down as we all got to the party room for pizza and cupcakes. We ended up having to wait around after the party was over since one of the parents got the pick up time wrong and we hung out until they showed up. While we were waiting we did get to see a family of geese with some babies. I didn't get too many shots since the parent geese were a tad on the over protective side. Once we got home Quinn opened up all the presents he got. I'm guessing he must tell other kids about NASCAR at school because the sheer amount of racing stuff he got was unreal. Overall he got some phat loot.
