Air And Space Museum Visit

Another busy day. Catherine is looking more and more grown up when she gets dressed for church these days. It's hard to believe it wasn't that long ago that she looked like a little toddler.

After we got home from church my uncle and cousin (Frank and Will) showed up for a visit. And after a fairly expensive lunch at Carrabbas, we headed out to the Air and Space museum out at Dulles. Frank's a pilot and has only read about the museum in some of his flight magazines and had been wanting to visit it. He did have a fairly amusing comment as we were walking to the museum from the parking lot about how he didn't think the place looked big enough to have a Concorde in it. After walking through the museum he changed his mind. But he qualified it by saying the Concorde simply wasn't as big as he was expecting it to be.

After we worked the kids so hard yesterday they also got to bed really late. So wouldn't you know it Quinn ended up getting up around 6:30 am anyway. This results in a seriously sleep deprived kids problem. The problem is twofold. First there's no school, and they always get up early when they know there's no school. And second Nana is up visiting this weekend, and they tend to get up early if she's here so they can play. So they're really losing out on some sleep, but this is more detrimental to Catherine since she probably still requires a bit more sleep than Quinn does. The combination of all that meant that 20 minutes after we got the museum Catherine was ready to rest and not do anymore walking. So we ended up breaking out the stroller for the first time in a really long time just for her (had it just been us there without Frank and Will, we probably would have headed home).

The last time we were at the museum it was for Quinn's third birthday. So that was three years ago. At that time, you couldn't approach the space shuttle exhibit because it was in the process of being cleaned. But now it's out there and that whole wing is open and populated with space stuff. Pretty sure that section was one of Quinn's favorites.

After we finished at the museum we bid goodbye to Frank and Will as they headed home. We also headed home, but made a quick stop by the park so the kids could burn off whatever little bit of energy they had left. Check out the air the kids are managing to get on the swings.

And once we were all home safe and snug, we had a minor storm blow through. Nothing major, but it did make it so that I didn't have to go out and manually water the garden that Catherine and Ginger are working on out back.
