Bee Beach

Had to convince the kids to go back to Coquina beach today. Yesterday there were a couple bees that were buzzing around a couple times and it evidently left quite an impression on them and they really didn't want to go back. But we finally convinced them to give it another shot. And wouldn't you know it even though we entered the beach at a different location there was still a bee buzzing around us a couple times. In fact, there's a nature center at this beach also and we tried walking over to see it, but as we did we started getting eaten alive by mosquitoes and had to turn around. I'm not sure we're going to be able to easily convince the kids to go back to Coquina again.

Since I took a ton of pictures today I'm just going to space them out throughout the entire post, so if the pictures don't match the text, that's why.

We've been unlucky in that high tide has been occurring right around lunch time for the past couple of days. Because of that even though the waves are pretty light at this beach the kids can't go out into the water as far as they can at low tide. I recall last year being able to walk a good distance out into the water at low tide and I was a lot less concerned about Quinn on his boogie board with the lower water level. This time with the higher water levels I feel like we need have Ginger or myself out there watching him (at least being near him in case something happened).

After our time at the beach I spent part of today foolishly looking for a firewire video cable (I need one if I want to pull video off the video camera). It's not like there are a lot of computer specialty stores here at the beach, and the main stores like Wal-Mart and K-Mart had nothing to offer (although if I wanted a USB2 cable they both had plenty of those). The problem is I believe Ginger's Macbook Pro and my laptop both have firewire connections. But they're the later versions. The cable I have has a connector that looks like a huge rectangle, the connectors on Ginger's computer is much much smaller. I've read online that there are cables that go from the old connectors to the new one and allow backward compatibility. I'm just not sure I'm going to be able to locate those cables down here.

After lunch Ginger and the kids went to the water park area while I stayed at home working on my Engineering Review slides for work. Thankfully I think I've finally gotten them finished (at least as finished as they're going to get anyway). Working on those slides while on vacation is a great way to suck all the fun out of the vacation.
