What's With The Cell Phone Obsession

Yesterday at dinner when we were talking about Quinn riding his bike around the neighborhood he informed us that if he was going to ride around without us he was going to need a cell phone. This was stated very matter of fact as if it was the most common thing in the world for an eight year old to have a cell phone.

And then tonight when Catherine was going to bed she was telling us how she had just gotten an email on her phone asking her to come over to play (but she couldn't because it was time for bed).

Aren't they a little young to be wanting cell phones? Although I guess they know that Ginger's iPhone plays music, video games, has a camera and in addition to all that can actually be used as a phone, so I can see why they want one.

Who knows???? Cheryl thinks (I think) that they should be in double digits before they get a cell phone.

I tend to agree. Although I would probably say "at the very least be in double digits."

We've said phones when they start high school to ours.
[which is eleven over here]
that's when they'll be wanting to make their own way to school on bikes - so it makes sense.

James - What, are you going to be holding out for triple digits for them?
