Beach Fun Day 5: Kites, Fishing and Sand Angels

Today when we went to the beach Quinn got to fly his kite. And this year the kite didn't break. The past two times we were here his kite has broke in the wind. (that's some powerful wind breaking). While he was really excited about flying the kite initially, his excitement didn't last much longer than about five minutes or so.

The kids and Ginger played a bunch in the waves. I believe the game was 'airplane race'. But they both spent a bunch of time running around in the waves with Ginger. After that it was a rousing game of letting our feet sink into the sand as waves come and go.

After that I broke out Quinn's new fishing pole. He really likes 'fishing'. We're not letting him use a hook just yet, so he's just casting out now (which is good considering he hit me in the head once). He's doing a lot better than I thought he would considering this was his first time using a fishing pole. Unfortunately the bobber that came with the set was complete crap and broke.

Meanwhile Catherine was doing some form of dancing jig (Irish?) on the beach. And then after that she decided to make sand angels. This of course results in her getting sand embedded everywhere in her swimsuit. This has been a pretty regular occurrence with her throughout the week. The sand just ends up getting everywhere (which may explain why a couple of nights ago she complained that she thought Quinn had put a cracker up her butt).

After we got home, everyone hit the pool. Then we had lunch and then went shopping. Quinn and I went off on our own to a bait and tackle shop and bought him some decent bobbers which we put to use later when we went back to the beach and he 'fished' some more. We've gotten pretty lucky with the weather, both today and yesterday it rained / stormed, but not until later in the evening after we had finished all of our outside activities (although he storm tonight did cut Quinn's fishing shorter than he would have liked). The only bad thing about the weather is it's completely prevented me from being able to get any sunset pictures this trip. Oh well, there's always next year.

Going sailing today while Cheryl takes Loren to NJ to go to the beach, then I head over on the last ferry to join them tonight and spend tomorrow at the beach. Yea!
