Not Everything Is Black And White

Got home today and everyone was outside playing. Quinn had set up an obstacle course, and Catherine was ready to go to the back and play in the sand box (she just loves digging). Of course, once Catherine went back, it wasn't too long before Quinn decided he wanted to go back there too. We had dinner out on the deck tonight. Ginger and the kids spent part of today cleaning up the screened in area so that we could eat out there. It was nice. The only bad part of eating outside with the kids is they're constantly deciding on new stuff they want from inside. "Can I get a yogurt?" "I want a glass of water." "I want a glass of milk." And so on, and so on. But the best part of the night? Quinn, who won't eat anything usually, has decided he likes cheese sticks. Now don't tell him he likes them though, because he only likes them because he thinks they're regular breadsticks. Not sure I care why, it's something new and that's a win as far as I'm concerned.

While the kids were playing in the sand earlier, I took some more pictures so that I could do more experimenting with going to black and white photos. I'm still not happy with the results, but I think I'm seeing improvement. I've just been amazed at how with some tweaking you can get some really different black and white photo results from the same photo.

I seem to recall a former housemate who also was very picky with his food...maybe we should had fooled him the same way....

Those B&Ws look really a lot better. What'd you do on the second leaf picture? Boost the saturation before converting to BW? Curious minds want to know.

The fence boards picture (#3) is my favorite.

Hey, I may have been a bit picky, but I still ate at least something from all the food groups (ice cream counts for dairy, right?).

Ding. We have a winner!

Did everything in Picasa. I did a combination of cranking up the saturation and then using the filtered B&W option and panning over it until I found something I liked.
